Characterization of the Electromagnetic Shielding Effectiveness of Biochar-Based Materials

Biochar and biochar-based composites are multi-functional materials with a wide range of environmental other applications. A new emerging application is in the field modern communication systems as significant electromagnetic shielding effectiveness. In this study, biochar was prepared from olive tree prunings which subsequently used at various dosages to prepare composite samples carbon black polytetrafluoroethylene binder. The effectiveness were measured frequency 1–3 GHz, using simple, user-friendly reliable experimental set-up. results showed that raw, unmodified had low 1.5-4 dB however, it slightly increased thickness sample 0.1 0.5 mm. Modifying 20 %w/w acetylene largely its effectiveness, reaching value 39 same range. Our approach demonstrated raw can be substrate develop assess their performance quick simple laboratory method.
